Forest Africa Zambia Ltd specializes in processing indigenous wild fruits such as Mabuyu (Baobab) and Ngai (False Medlar), producing organic and natural juices and baobab seed oil. By applying a zero-waste philosophy, all the parts of the baobab fruit are used. The fruit powder is processed into juice, the seeds are pressed into high-quality cosmetic oil, funicles (fibres) into red tea, and the shells are converted into eco-friendly charcoal briquettes that are used as an energy source at Forest Africa’s factory. Additionally, some seeds are reserved for reforestation. The manufactured products are directly supplied to about 100 retail shops in the Lusaka area. The company has so far created direct employment for ten Zambians at the factory while creating income for local rural communities who are primary collectors of the wild fruits from forest areas.
